While doing research on rape culture I found an article that dealt with the topic reasonably written by Kate Harding who is co-editor of "Nasty Women: Feminism, Resistant, and Revolution in Trumps America." It discusses the topic of normalized unwanted kissing and groping are in today's society and is in the process of being minimized. This was considerably fighting the topic of male dominance over femininity. This fits into the gender role and how it demoralizes women's social status in society and sets these traditional values in way that makes women be portrayed as inferior to men.
It is said that sexual harassment and how assaults are simply too widespread for democrats. A solution to this matter would be for us to respond in a way that helps us develop some type of pact for a meaningful change. This woman has accused Franken has assaulted her and concludes the stereotype that sexual harassment and assault. Some might say that the topic is hypocritical due to Republicans declining to hold Franken accountable for his crime. Leann Tweeden said that "we need to hold perpetrators of sexual assault accountable for their actions" (Tweeden, 2006).
It was debated over if he should have felt like he can leverage many of these advantages of being an older more experienced famous white man which could be identified as a sign of ignominy. The main issue is to root out all sexual harassment but to get rid of most of it by being a selfless champion to women"s rights. Leeann Tweeden said in her story on how she felt like he betrayed her trust by overstepping his limits as a man.
My opinion on this idea of masculinity being superior to women's morals is not how we should base our society off of. Its good to see that more and more women are stepping up to become social leaders and are fulfilling the roles of men. Based off the cultural diamond this social world is more leaned towards males and how they exert themselves on women. As you can see in this cultural topic is being looked upon as male dominance over a female exist in our present society. Due to this current situation men are the creators of rape culture yet, women are the receivers to this tragic scenario. In order for us to live at peace with one another e must accept that we are all equal beings no matter what gender, race, relgion, or culture.

Hello Jeremiah,
ReplyDeleteYour response to the article was quite eye-opening, rape culture is quite a touchy subject and I noticed in the authors writing her tone had been more comedic in a mocking sense. I guess due to the fact that why is it a topic that must be talked about and talked about over and over if its just an obvious wrong thing to do. I liked how in the article she explained how she is a Democrat but she isn't fully on board with all the ideas they stand by. There has been a great increase in charges pressed against individuals because women have united together who have experienced the same problem and encouraged others to help themselves. This has caused a huge chain reaction because more and more men are being locked up and actually punished. For example, the Bill Cosby case had a lot of controversy due to his celebrity status. For many people, they envied this man and couldn't believe the allegations, even though many women had evidence of the incident taking place. This just displays how morality can be easily changed because of the general publics liking for one individual. The fact this man received jail time was a huge weight of the shoulders of many to have faith in the justice system but we still have a long way to go.
